28/9 Lenin leaves us after more than five years in the group (Ph.D. and postdoc). In November he will take up a position as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the EPFL in Switzerland with Prof. Nicolai Cramer. ​25/4 We welcome Dr. Subrata Maity and Dr. Asit Ghosh join the group as postdocs. They arrived two weeks ago and have now completed the obligatory isolation period for people arriving to Israel.

22/4 AMS leads the Israel Chemical Society in the Mountain to Valley Relay Race for the 10th time. 180km of running across northern Israel.

23/3 Our Angewandte paper is named a HOT paper.

18/3 Our group participates in the sorrow of Abhi on the death of his father ז"ל!

23/2 Our method for peptide synthesis using only DMAP, Br-CCl3 and a touch of Sun light is accepted for publication in Angewandte Chemie! Congratulations to Abhaya who started this research, Galit who did all the computational work as well as Sourav, Andrii, Jonatan, and Ortal. This work was a collaboration between our group and our dear friend Yoav Eichen's group at the Technion.

This grant will complement the ISF grant for buying a High Resolution Mass Spectrometer we won last year with Flavio Grynszpan and Miki Montag and is meant to pay the salary for the operator for the next four years.

In the last few years, we have characterized and used electrophilic enolonium species in reactions such as arylation, alkylation, allylation, prenylation, amination, azidation, and enolate cross-couplings. Want to carry out one of these reactions or develop your own? Here is a detailed protocol to try it out (link also available from the Publications page). Happy Enolate Umpolung!

1. August

Our ISF Institutional grant application for funding a HRMS has been approved. 1.85 Million Shekels including the matching funding from the University. Congratulations to our co-PIs Flavio Grynszpan and Michael Montag and to Ariel University which will receive its first HRMS. This is a great step forward in getting faster and better results and the instrument will serve multiple departments and researchers across the University.

26. July

After two highly successful years and being instrumental in setting up the group at Ariel U. Keshab leaves the group for a second postdoc with McGrath at the University of Arizona, Tucson. We wish Keshab best of luck in his future endeavors. Check out pictures from his goodbye Picnic on our Twitter and Facebook pages.

9. July

Hila gives her final seminar. Time to write that thesis!

1-4. July AMS presents a lecture and Shimon a poster at the excellent International Conference on Hypervalent Iodine organized by Thomas Wirth at Cardiff University.

21. June Our group together with those of Itay Benhar and Nir Osherov at Tel Aviv University are the winners of a KAMIN grant to further research our antifungal Amphotericin B derivatives with the goal of making them into clinically useful medicines.

Our Angewandte paper on Enolonium Species is now an "ISI Highly Cited Paper" marking it as a being in top 1% cited papers in Chemistry published this year. The distinction is given according to measurements by the ISI and noted on the Web of Science
