AMS is the recipient of a grant from the Council of Higher Education - Planning abd Budgeting Committee. This grant will complement the ISF grant for buying a High Resolution Mass Spectrometer we won last year with Flavio Grynszpan and Miki Montag and is meant to pay the salary for the operator for the next four years.

Our contribution to the Special Issue of the Journal of Coordination Chemistry in honor of Dan Meyerstein is published online. Congrats to Abhaya, Galit, Irit and the Xray scientist Natalie Fridman. Thank you to the Yoav Eichen group and especially Yoav for the collaboration.

In the last few years, we have characterized and used electrophilic enolonium species in reactions such as arylation, alkylation, allylation, prenylation, amination, azidation, and enolate cross-couplings. Want to carry out one of these reactions or develop your own? Here is a detailed protocol to try it out (link also available from the Publications page). Happy Enolate Umpolung!

1. August

Our ISF Institutional grant application for funding a HRMS has been approved. 1.85 Million Shekels including the matching funding from the University. Congratulations to our co-PIs Flavio Grynszpan and Michael Montag and to Ariel University which will receive its first HRMS. This is a great step forward in getting faster and better results and the instrument will serve multiple departments and researchers across the University.

26. July

After two highly successful years and being instrumental in setting up the group at Ariel U. Keshab leaves the group for a second postdoc with McGrath at the University of Arizona, Tucson. We wish Keshab best of luck in his future endeavors. Check out pictures from his goodbye Picnic on our Twitter and Facebook pages.

9. July

Hila gives her final seminar. Time to write that thesis!

1-4. July AMS presents a lecture and Shimon a poster at the excellent International Conference on Hypervalent Iodine organized by Thomas Wirth at Cardiff University.

21. June Our group together with those of Itay Benhar and Nir Osherov at Tel Aviv University are the winners of a KAMIN grant to further research our antifungal Amphotericin B derivatives with the goal of making them into clinically useful medicines.

Our BJOC paper on cross-coupling of dissimilar enolates via enolonium species is one of the most accessed papers of the journal.

15. November

Our Angewandte paper on Enolonium Species is now an "ISI Highly Cited Paper" marking it as a being in top 1% cited papers in Chemistry published this year. The distinction is given according to measurements by the ISI and noted on the Web of Science

6-8. September

AMS presents the group's research on Umpolung using Enolonium Species at the International Symposium on Synthesis and Catalysis (Evora, Portugal). Report and pics on our FB and Twitter accounts. Other Israeli speakers are Prof. Moshe Portnoy (TAU) and Prof. David Milstein (WIS).

27-31. August

AMS presents the group's Umpolung work at the EFMC-ASC'17 conference in Vienna heck out pictures on our FB and Twitter page.

Our paper with the Eichen lab is accepted for Publication in Chemical Communications.

AMS is the recipient of a Young Scientist research grant from the
German-Israeli Foundation for Scientific Research and Development June
